Liverpool Parade Attack
The latest on the tragic events that occurred at the celebration of Liverpool’s 20th league title on Monday is that a 53-year-old British man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The Associated Press reported that 65 people were injured in the attack.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families 🙏
Fulham 0 Manchester City 2
On Sunday, with Liverpool having locked up the league several games ago, Arsenal eternally sitting in second, and the relegation of Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton also pretty much locked-in for a while, the focus in this year’s final games was on the bundle of teams still vying for Champions League spots.
Last season’s champions Manchester City had its most disappointing season since 2016-17, and were actually in some jeopardy of not qualifying for the Champions League, but an overhead kick from Ilkay Gundogan and a penalty kick by Erling Haaland versus 11th place Fulham, spared Pep Guardiola’s blushes, to seal the third Champions League spot.
Nottingham Forest 0 Chelsea 1
Levi Colwill was getting forward more than you’d expect from a centre back and it paid off for him and Chelsea as he tapped home the only goal of the game in the 49th minute, to earn Chelsea the fourth Champions League spot.
Meanwhile Forest, who were in a Champions League spot for much of the season, finished seventh, which is only good for a qualifying spot in the Conference League.
Newcastle 0 Everton 1
Newcastle United were the beneficiaries of a surprise stumble by Aston Villa, and despite the fact that they also lost their match - at home - to 13th place Everton, were able to claim the fifth and final Champions League spot via goal difference.
The qualification will come as a huge relief to manager Eddie Howe who this season also guided the Magpies to the Carabao Cup - their first domestic trophy in 70-years.
Manchester United 2 Aston Villa 0
There has been plenty of talk about the disallowed Morgan Rogers goal, but the poor pass back from a Villa a defender and the blatant body check by Emiliano Martinez that resulted in a straight red and left Villa down to ten men, was the moment that did Villa in.
Somehow, when they simply needed to play their high quality game, they managed to lose by two goals to one of the worst Manchester United sides in memory.
It must sting for head coach Unai Emery that a team that sparkled at times this season should end up outside of the Champions League.
Sunderland Are Back
The popular Sunderland ‘Til I Die documentary came out in 2018 just after the former Premier League club were relegated to the Championship.
Seven years later the Black Cats are back, after substitute Tom Watson shot Sunderland into the Premier League with a dramatic winner in the 5th minute of stoppage to defeat third place finishers, Sheffield United.
Also joining Sunderland in the Prem for the 2025-26 season will be champions Leeds United and second place Burnley.
Serie A Espressos 🇮🇹 ☕
Napoli 2 Cagliari 0
It wasn’t going to matter what Inter did - who did do their job in defeating Como 2-0 - if Napoli did what they needed to do.
Which they did - in defeating Cagliari 2-0 at home on goals from Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku.
And so by just one point Napoli won their second Italian title in three years.

Eastern Conference
Philadelphia Union 3 Inter Miami CF 3
Leo Messi delivered the magic once again for a struggling Miami side facing the top of the conference Philadelphia Union, scoring from a free kick late in the 87th minute, and then assisting on the equalizer by Telasco Segovia in the 95th minute, helping Inter Miami rally from a two-goal deficit.
Western Conference
Real Salt Lake 2 Vancouver Whitecaps 3
Vancouver’s Whitecaps continue to ride. They are unbeaten in 14 in all comps, after completing a comeback in the 90th minute through Pedro Vite, to defeat their hosts Real Salt Lake 3-2 and stay atop both the Western and overall standings.
